The title of this piece refers to Curnow's teacher, mentor and renowned baritone horn teacher/soloist Leonard Falcone. "Fantasia Di Falcone" is a four-movement suite of fantasy variations, based on a theme from one of Falcone's favorite band transcriptions: "Andrea Chanier" (Opera Excerpts) by Umberto Giordano. This theme is referenced in the opening cadenza of the first movement, then developed throughout the other four movements.
