| | Richard Danielpour - String Quartet No. 2 (Shadow Dances) "String Quartet No. 2 (Shadow Dances)" composed by Richard Danielpour was completed in 1992. According to the composer, each of the four movements of this work is an evocation of the hidden (shadow) aspects of personality. This piece is one work with four faces to complement and contradict one another. The first movement is playful and represents the child within; the second movement includes a driving march to represent the controller or dictator; the third movement represents mourning the death of a loved one; and the speed of the fourth movement recalls the clown or jester in all of us. This enjoyable piece is available here with a score and parts for violin 1 and 2, viola, and cello.
