With the release of a 5-song cassette on an independent label, the Barenaked Ladies grew quite popular in the Great White North. That cassette went on to achieve gold status and was the first cassette ever to do so as well as being the first independent label project to receive the honor. After a major label deal, a "Juno" for Canadian group of the year, and two multi-platinum albums, it seems their rise to fame is not stopping.
