Marvin Lamb's "Music For Julius Baker" is a contemporary piece that utilizes contemporary compositional techniques to present a unique and interesting piece. In this piece, flute players go through a series of speed playing and holds, and must pay strict attention to the director as he or she will tell them to come in on cue at certain points. This piece will challenge the flute players, but in the end they will have a unique piece put together and will be better flute players for it.

Technical Notes: The parts in this product are split into four "groups" each with its own printed part. The first group is the soloists. The printed part for the soloists contains 2 parts, 1 for piccolo and 1 for flute. The second group is for alto and bass flutes. The composer recommends any number of alto and bass flutes as long as they are in a ratio of around 3 alto flutes to 2 bass flutes. The third group is for piccolos. There are 3 piccolo parts, and the composer recommends a minimum of 6 piccolos to fill these parts. The fourth part is for flutes. There are 3 flute parts and the composer recommends a minimum of 18 flutes to cover the parts. The set includes 1 printed part for each of the groups as well as a full score.
