Everyone knows this wonderful selection from "West Side Story". The rhythmic complexity is just amazing, but don't let that push you away from performing this work. It goes back-and-forth from 6/8 time to 3/4 time. The effect gives the work the Latino feel that we all love. Michael Brown has arranged the work for your ensemble. The percussion section will be a critical part for this piece. They will set the tempo and keep it precise. The rest of the ensemble's parts should just lock right in with the percussion groove. It is a challenging work, but when performed well, your ensemble will shine big. Challenge your players by adding this work to your next concert.
