The Society Of Singers was founded in 1984 by Henri Mancini's wife Ginny to help protect professional singers in times of crisis and misfortune. Their prestigious Ella Award was started in 1989 as a fundraising event for the society and is only awarded to the best of the best. Some recipients of this award have been Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Tony Martin, Peggy Lee, Celine Dion, Barry Manilow, Julie Andrews and many more.
