This book is designed to show the person with no musical experience how to play the five-string banjo in the three-finger, or bluegrass style. It is not necessary to be able to read music for this method, tablature will show you which notes to play. By using this book, and the accompanying DVD video, you will learn the parts of the banjo, how to tune it, how to hold it, and how to read tablature. Once you have mastered these basics, you will be able to play simple tunes after listening to them along with the exercises that are demonstrated on the CD, which is also included.

The accompaniment CD contains exercises and demonstrations from the book for you to listen to and also play along with. It is an excellent tool that will help you develop your skills. Tracks 40-46: the rhythm instruments are in the right channel and the banjo is in the left channel. You can change the balance so you can play along.
