"Renessance Rock" and "Courtly Dance" are two amazing pieces for Concert Band with some similar qualities. Each piece introduces the performer and listener to the style of renaissance music and brings to mind visions of an age of extreme advancement. Some new techniques are introduced to the performer in this book and should be reviewed at each rehearsal before performance. An audio CD is also included with recordings of both songs as well as other songs in the "Standard in Excellence" series.

Technical Notes: This band set actually includes two separate songs, both "Renaissance Rock" and "Courtly Dance". Each of these songs includes an optional "feature" part for beginning recorders. Both of these songs correlate with the Kjos method book "Standard Of Excellence", book 1, page 23.
On "Renaissance Rock", the percussion 1 part is an optional part for timpani, the percussion 2 part calls for bells, the percussion 3 part calls for suspended cymbal, the percussion 4 part calls for tambourine and triangle, and the percussion 5 part calls for snare drum and bass drum. On "Courtly Dance", the percussion 1 part is an optional part for timpani, the percussion 2 part calls for finger cymbals and tambourine, the percussion 3 part calls for hand drum, and the percussion 5 part calls for snare drum and bass drum.
