Technical Notes: The percussion part for this band set is marked for snare drum, bass drum, and crash cymbals.
Even though they are at different tempos, the Maestoso sections, which begin and conclude the piece, should both be played in a noble manner with strong articulation. The melody in the Allegro section beginning at measure 29 should be played in a flowing style above the syncopated accompaniment. Care should be taken so that the Andante at measure 78 builds not so much by dynamics, but through successive instrument entrances to the Maestoso at measure 96, which continues at the same tempo.
