Technical Notes: The oboe, French horn and bells parts are optional. The 1st percussion part is written for an optional drum set. The 2nd percussion part is written for crash cymbals and triangle. Any one or more of the B Flat bass clarinet, E Flat baritone saxophone, trombone/baritone BC/bassoon, baritone TC or tuba parts will provide an adequate Bass part.
This is an easy arrangement for concert band of the beautiful rock ballad, "Can't Help Falling In Love." Because the overall style is mostly smooth, the arrangement should be quite useful for teaching legato style. Although this arrangement is scored to facilitate good balance as much as possible, be sure that the melody is never covered by the accompaniment.
The 1st percussion part can be played with one performer on a drum set, or divided between two or three players. Be sure that this part is always played lightly. At measure 36, the melody is divided between the low voice and the trumpets. Note the quick dynamic changes in the low voices in measures 36, 37 and 38.
