Modern composer Augusta Read Thomas created this unaccompanied work for clarinet using five phrases. Thomas was commissioned to created a work for a Mr. Dagon. The title of the work is unusual. Thomas wanted a title that was both unique and also contained the name Dagon. The work uses a jazz feel throughout. It is filled with interesting harmonics, notes, rhythms, and phrases.
