Estimated Performance Time: 3:10
Technical Notes: Take your cue from the title! You can use as many percussion sounds that you have. Feel free to substitute for the ratchet, coo-coo, etc. with whatever instruments are available. The percussion players should make it look difficult to the audience to make the numerous instrument changes that are required. At measure 93 one player should run along the back of the band and hit a gong or suspended cymbal "just in time" at measure 98. To make the sound of a baseball bat hitting a ball at measure 155, you should use a hard mallet on a wood block. Instruct the slide whistle player to play so the sound goes up and down to follow the imaginary flight of the batted "ball" as you and the band look on. You may choose to toss a baseball to someone in the audience at the end of the performance. This will be a big "hit" with the band and concert goers alike! The percussion 1 part is written for a drum set, wood block, and tom-toms. The percussion 2 part is written for the following instruments: bulb horn, bell plate, cowbell, temple blocks, tambourine, duck call, wind whistle, slide whistle, high-pitched bulb horn, coo-coo, ratchet, large bulb horn, small bulb horn, sandpaper blocks, gong or suspended cymbal, and a pop gun.
