Cornelius Gurlitt was a German composer and music educator who was known for his oustanding repertoire for young people and his association with Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert. As an instructor at the Hamburg School of Music, Gurlitt composed many studies to help in the progression of young musicians. This collection features Volume 1 of his Opus 82, "The First Steps of the Young Pianist". Teachers and students agree that this collection of exercises will help in any pianists development.
