The hammered dulcimer is often played as a lead instrument carrying a simple melody line. It can also be played, however, as a backup instrument, and/or provide fills for the established melody line. To accomplish the latter, some knowledge and explanation of chord structure will be helpful. Thus the purpose of this chord book is to provide tools needed for musicians who are seeking to go beyond simple melody line; to establish the tunes they already know, or to support other musicians playing the lead line.
